It is finally fall!

As the temperatures drop, our immune systems need an extra boost to help protect us from catching a cold or the flu.

This all-natural ginger tea recipe has whole food immune boosting ingredients that will keep you healthy without knocking you out of the Keto Zone.

Ginger and cinnamon are loaded with antioxidant and immune boosting compounds that will keep your body strong enough to fight off any pathogenic bacteria and viruses you might come across.

Lemon juice contains vitamin C which also helps to strengthen your immune system and promote healthy digestion. Apple cider vinegar has probiotics which act to counteract the unhealthy bacteria that can cause the common cold.

Additionally, this recipe has pumpkin spice MCT powder which provides a delicious fall flavor as well as healthy fats to fuel the mitochondria in your cells. To top things off we added a small amount of raw honey which is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and immune factors. A quarter teaspoon of raw honey only adds a few grams of carbohydrates which is not enough to prevent ketosis.

Ingredients

2 cups filtered water
2 tablespoons fresh organic ginger root, chopped
1 organic cinnamon stick
1/2 organic lemon, juiced
1/2 teaspoon organic apple cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon raw honey
1 scoop MCT Powder (Pumpkin Spice)

Instructions

Add 2 cups of water to a pot over medium heat.

Add chopped ginger and cinnamon stick to the water.

Cover the pot and bring water to a simmer.

Allow water to simmer for at least 5 minutes.

Remove water from the heat.

Pour water through a fine mesh strainer in to your favorite tea cup.

Add in lemon, apple cider vinegar, MCT powder, and raw honey.

Stir until well combined (or blend for a frothier consistency).

Enjoy!

Are you looking for a low-carb vegetarian recipe for your Labor Day cookout?

This delicious Keto Grilled Portobello Mushrooms with Mozzarella recipe is sure to satisfy your needs!

While low in carbs and protein, these cheesy mozzarella mushrooms are full of healthy fat, vitamins, and minerals.

Portobellos are an exceptional source of the vital electrolyte mineral potassium. They are also a decent source of fiber and very low in total calories. Additionally, portobellos provide a source of the minerals phosphorus, selenium, magnesium, and calcium.

Overall, portobello mushrooms are a nutrient dense and delicious addition to the Keto Zone diet.

Ingredients

6 organic portobello mushrooms, stem removed
6 slices organic mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons organic olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 cup fresh organic thyme, chopped
1 teaspoon organic black pepper

Instructions

Preheat grill to 400°F

Remove stems and scrape black gills out of the inside of the mushroom caps. Brush the outsides with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Turn back over and spread about 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce inside each cap. Sprinkle with mozzarella and layer with sliced sausage.

Place caps on grill and cook until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 8 minutes.

Watch carefully… as they cook, the mushrooms soften and begin to flatten out, so that the fillings begin to slide off! This is when you know they are done to perfection.

Take off grill. Sprinkle with basil and serve.

These can be made a day or two ahead, the leftovers heat up wonderfully in a toaster oven or even in the microwave.

Do you love Tuscan soup?

Tuscan Soup, also known as “Zuppa Toscana,” is a recipe originating from Tuscany, Italy.

This style of soup is traditionally made with ingredients such as sausage, potatoes, and beans.

However, in order to make a keto friendly version of this delicious dish, we made a few simple substitutions that will keep you burning fat in the Keto Zone!

First, we switched out processed pork sausage for organic chicken breast. Next, we omitted potatoes for 1 large organic carrot. Lastly, we left out the starchy beans in favor of more delicious low-carb vegetables!

Try out the low-carb version of Tuscan Soup today and see why it is even better than the original!

Ingredients

1 pound organic chicken breast, cooked and shredded
1 organic yellow onion, diced
2 stalks organic celery, diced
1 large organic carrot, sliced
5 cloves organic garlic, minced
3/4 cup organic cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup organic cream cheese
3 cups organic chicken broth
1 cup organic heavy cream
1 cup organic kale, chopped
1 tablespoon organic/grass-fed butter or ghee
1/4 cup organic parsley, chopped
Sea salt, to taste
Organic black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Melt butter or ghee in a large stock pot over medium heat.

Add in celery, onions, and carrots to the pot.

Cook while stirring until vegetables begin to caramelize.

Add in the garlic and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 more minutes.

Add the cooked and shredded chicken to the pot along with the cherry tomatoes and cream cheese.

Stir until the cream cheese is melted.

Add in the chicken broth while stirring.

Turn the heat up to high until the mixture reaches a boil.

Once boiling, turn heat to low and add in the cream while stirring.

Cover the sup and continue to simmer on low for about 10 minutes or until soup has cooked down to desired consistency.

Once soup has reached desired consistency, add in chopped kale and stir as kale wilts in to the soup.

Remove soup from heat.

Distribute in to serving bowls and top with fresh chopped parsley.
